Marking the fifth anniversary of 9/11, the Mission Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Emily Ray, and the San Jose Symphonic Choir, directed by Leroy Kromm, present Mozart’s Requiem under the beautiful dome of the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Joseph on Saturday, September 9, 2006, 8:00p. In a fitting tribute to the 9/11 victims, Terry Vosbein’s A Prayer for Peace, written in reaction to the events of that tragic day, will be performed, and mezzo soprano Sherri Phelps will be featured in Craig Bohmler’s evocative Songs of Loss. Free pre-concert lecture begins at 7:00p. Dan Leeson, author of Opus Ultimum: The Story of the Mozart Requiem, will lecture before the concert. Reception immediately following concert in Loyola Hall next to the Cathedral (ticket required). Concert tickets are $25, reception tickets are $5. Advance tickets are available; please check Mission Chamber Orchestra’s website or call (408) 236-3350 for more information. Tickets purchased at the door are limited. All ticket purchasers will receive a dining benefit card to Eulipia Restaurant.
